Since 1985, forty-four generations of people have worked hard to make this program what it is today. If you have been looking to tell your stories, and create a space for your community to tell theirs, then First Voice Media may be for you. If you come from an under-represented community, are adaptable, understanding, flexible, committed, have a positive outlook, and are willing to work in a diverse group setting, we encourage you to apply.
The program is intensive and demanding, with two night classes and one day-shift per week for 15 to 18 months. The projected time commitment averages 20 hours a week. All those selected must agree to serve their respective communities, KPFA, and Pacifica, in exchange for skills development and access to resources. If you are accepted, there is a $50 supply fee due on the first night of class. If money is a factor, don’t let it stop you from applying, we can try to work something out. Your voice is valuable.
